Position Summary
YAFFED seeks a proactive, detail-oriented, and strategic Development Manager to help lead and execute fundraising efforts that support our mission and expand our impact. This role is ideal for someone passionate about education equity and systematic change, with a strong background in Jewish philanthropy, donor cultivation, and grant writing.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. The candidate must be able to work independently and have access to a reliable internet connection.
This is a mostly remote (NY area) position that reports directly to the Executive Director. Attendance at in-person meetings and events required.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and manage a comprehensive development strategy across multiple revenue streams, including major gifts, foundations, digital fundraising, and events.
- Manage donor communications and stewardship, including acknowledgment process and funder reports.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward donors in partnership with the Executive Director.
- Design and implement a moves management protocol for major donors including projections and stewardship strategies; cultivate relationships with current, lapsed, and prospective donors.
- Lead and track all aspects of individual giving campaigns.
- Work with the Communications Manager to develop and implement a digital fundraising program.
- Maintain systems to manage and track all donor data
- Research funding opportunities and write compelling grant proposals and reports
Track deadlines and coordinate submissions with the Executive Director and finance team. - Plan and execute virtual and in-person development events (e.g., donor briefings, parlor meetings) to acquire new donors and engage current donors
- Support board fundraising and development activities
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years experience in nonprofit development. 5-10 years of relevant experience is preferable
- Familiarity with the Jewish philanthropic landscape
- Experience with moves management, donor engagement tools (CRMs), outreach to donors, event management, securing meetings, and soliciting gifts
- Demonstrated success in accurately projecting, managing and meeting fundraising goals
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to YAFFED’s mission and capability to learn the complexities of the issue in New York City and State
Salary & Benefits
- Salary is commensurate with experience: $70,000 – 85,000
