Take action on behalf of the 65,000 children being denied an education

Tens of thousands of New York children attend ultra-orthodox yeshivas that refuse to provide a sound, basic education. Despite New York State law mandating that ALL schools teach secular subjects, these yeshivas refuse to give their students an education in subjects such as Math, English, and History.

Our government officials must do their job and enforce the law!

We need your help to make sure they do that. Act now! fill out this from to send an email to the NYC schools chancellor, the Mayor, and the members of the Panel for Educational Policy to tell them to enforce New York education law section 3204.

Dear Legislator,

I am writing to urge you to oppose any efforts to weaken the laws and regulations governing substantial equivalency for nonpublic schools.  There are negotiations underway that would weaken the legal protections currently in place to safeguard children's education in exchange for much-needed relief for the East Ramapo School district.  While the relief for the school district is critical, it is egregiously wrong to tie it to a deal that would grant irresponsible private schools a free pass to deprive their students of a basic education. These bad actors have habitually broken the education law in the past, and are now leveraging the underserved students of East Ramapo in exchange for the freedom to resume their harmful practices of educational neglect.

All children have a right to a sound, basic education.  Please stand up for all children and support relief for East Ramapo, but not by jeopardizing the educational rights of nonpublic school students.
